Numbers 14:9 Their Defence Is Departed From Them

Numbers 14:9 (KJV)  Only rebel not ye against the LORD, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defence is departed from them, and the LORD is with us: fear them not. 

In the conquest of the Promised Land, the Lord instructed His people that they will have victory for their defence is departed from them. The Lord has taken away their courage and the people of God are exhorted not to fear them.

They are bread for us, in other words, there will be great spoil that will come in the conquest and they would be inheriting the land, called land of milk and honey.

Fear can discourage and freeze the hearts of God’s people from doing His will. They the people of God lose sight in their focus upon the Lord, fear will come and overwhelm and overcome them, rendering them helpless.

May the people of God move forward with the gospel for His Name’s sake for their defence is departed from them. Amen.
