Psalm 23:6 Surely Goodness and Mercy Shall Follow Me

Psalm 23:6 (KJV)  Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

This is the LORD’s promise that the psalmist experienced and held on to in his earthly life and therefore a reality beyond this earthly existence. It brought strength and stillness to the soul, it brings comfort and solace to God’s people.

To dwell in the house of the LORD, to dwell in the presence of God, is the picture of the heavenly life. This is the believers’ lot which the psalmist extols that brings faith and builds faith in God and His Word. For the reality of the power of the Holy Spirit to bring understanding to the human heart on the divine is most assuring.

The LORD’s goodness caters to our every need and His mercy forgives our every sin. Therefore, there is much comfort resting on God’s provision and pardon.

His goodness and His unfailing love abide with His people always and for all eternity. On dark days, as well as the bright days, the sorrows and the joys, the journeying and the rest, frequent struggles, we look forward to that heavenly mansion that Christ has gone ahead to prepare for us.

John 14:1-3 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

Amen.
