Ephesians 5:21 Submitting One to Another in the Fear of God

Ephesians 5:21 (KJV)  Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

That God is sovereign and fully in charge of His creation and actively sustaining it must cause God’s people to live circumspectly in the fear of God. This fear is reverence and essentially a filial submission to God and His ways, as directed and guided by His Word.

Men are guided by God to love Him and to love others as ourselves. Such love is God-given and of the divine character. It enables one to be in voluntary submission, be submissive, obey, subject oneself to the interest, and eternal good of others.

This is essential for pervading peace amongst the brethren. It is in view of God who works out all things well, and men who humble themselves before God and on another.

May the Lord bless His church to grow from strength to strength. Amen.
