Psalm 17:9 Jesus Prays For Us

John 17:9 (KJV)  I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.

Jesus prays for His disciples. While He was on earth, He did so. Each one of them, Jesus called and they followed Him. He took them from the world though He did not take them out of the world. Because they are in the world, He had to pray for them that they will be kept from the incursions of the world.

This was His communion with the Father revealed for our comfort that He keeps us by His power.

After Jesus’ ascension to heaven, He continues this task at the right hand of the Father.

Hebrews 4:14-15 (KJV)  Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

Hebrews 7:23-28 (KJV)  And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death: But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood. Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people’s: for this he did once, when he offered up himself. For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore.

Amen.
