Psalm 41:13 Blessed Be the LORD God

Psalm 41:13 (KJV)  Blessed be the LORD God of Israel from everlasting, and to everlasting. Amen, and Amen.

The psalmist begins this psalm by pronouncing a blessing. The blessedness of one who considers the plight of the poor is the thought for our meditation in this psalm.

Psalm 41:1-3 (KJV)  To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble. The LORD will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies. The LORD will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness.

He was in sickness and pleaded for healing –  Psalm 41:4 (KJV)  I said, LORD, be merciful unto me: heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee.

The psalmist raised his thanksgiving by giving glory to his God, acknowledging His hand in caring and healing him during times of his distress.

God upholds him in complete security until his transformation when he beholds his God face to face because he was steadfast in holding on to doing according to God’s Word with God’s help. There is an eternal perspective of God’s care for us from which we find deep consolation in present suffering. Amen.
