Hebrews 2:18 Suffered Being Tempted

Hebrews 2:18 (KJV)  For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.

The Lord Himself suffered being tempted. The God of heaven condescended, entered human history, to live and suffer on our behalf that He may succour them that are tempted. This thought is beyond human comprehension. It shows forth the character of God in His love for us and the state of our well-being.

God’s reign is undisputed because He truly loved and cared for us. He was willing to bring Himself to help us in our lowly estate. This is divine rulership that we ought to gladly submit and follow.

He will not only do us no harm but infinite good – Proverbs 10:22 (KJV)  The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it. Psalm 37:25-26 (KJV)  I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread. He is ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed.

In our every temptation, He shall make a way of escape for us – 1 Corinthians 10:13 (KJV)  There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it

May God’s people be strengthened to trust Him at every point of testing. Amen.
