Revelation 22:13; Three Titles of Christ

Revelation 22:13 (KJV)  I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.

The three titles Christ appropriates for Himself in v13 offer solemn assurance of His qualifications to reward each person – I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.

They are the crowning attribution of divine prerogatives to the Son.

The first of the three “I am Alpha and Omega”, is a title for God the Father in Revelation 1:8; 21:6. Its symbolic force is “I am He from whom all being has proceeded and to whom it will return.”

The title “the beginning and the end” applies to the Father in Revelation 21:6. A similiar description of Christ in Hebrews 12:2, “the author and finisher of our faith”. What the Lord starts, He also finishes (Philippians 1:6).

Hebrews 12:2 (KJV)  Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Philippians 1:6 (KJV)  Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform ituntil the day of Jesus Christ:

The title has more of a philosophical ring to it in conveying the essence, “I am the One who has created the world and will perfect it” (Lee).
