Revelation 19:7; The Marriage of the Lamb Is Come

Revelation 19:7 (KJV)  Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.

The “marriage supper of the Lamb” (v9) is a precious revelation to the hearts of all God’s people. What a moment this will be when the “church of the firstborn” (Hebrews 12:23) is forever united to Him who bought her with His own blood! This is to be the marriage supper of the Lamb. Our presence will be die to all of His grace, and only those washed through the blood of the Lamb will be present at this nuptial celebration.

Revelation 19:9 (KJV)  And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.

This supper will be one of delight, but “the supper of the great God” (v17) will be one of destruction. At this supper, the fowls of the air will eat the flesh of kings, while, at the marriage supper of the Lamb, the saints will feast with Christ as the King of Kings. Our beautiful wedding garments represent the righteousness that the Lamb imputes and imparts to all His saints.

Revelation 19:17 (KJV)  And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God;

The preparation is made for our Lord’s return. Jesus is the bridegroom, the church is His bride, described as His wife. The saints returning with Christ from heaven to earth were depicted as having arrayed in fine linen, white and clean signifying as our text tells us “for the fine linen is the righteousness of the saints.” (v8).

Revelation 19:8 (KJV)  And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.

The righteousness of the saints came from the finished work of Christ upon the cross in His first coming as the suffering Servant.

The bride is showcased and the bridegroom. The saints prepared to return to earth with their Lord to reign with Him.
