Lord’s Day, Vol. 8 No. 48

(1) Family Bible Camp 2020

All praise and thanks to God as we shall be, God willing, going for our 7th annual Family Bible Camp on 16 – 18 December 2020 from 10 am – 5 pm daily at a local hotel. This is the first time there will be no overnight stay for church camp to ensure the safety of participants.

The theme for our camp is “Unto Us a Child Is Born” as we contemplate and meditate from Scriptures the theme of our Saviour’s birth during this Christmas season.

Isaiah 9:6-7 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. 7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Micah 5:2 But thou, Beth-lehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.

Our messages  are designed to support the spiritual and mental wellness of members and friends who have faced much distress for the larger part of this year as we focus on deepening our understanding of Christ.

We pray that the Lord will grant participants a time of rest and spiritual refreshing at the year-end before the rigours of a new year.

Isaiah 40:29-31 He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. 30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: 31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Registration opens today. May the Lord grant us a blessed time of spiritual refreshing.

(2) Read the Bible in One Year

Some brethren begun reading through the Bible in one year. To speed us along this blessed endeavour at the beginning of the year, we meditated upon the encouraging words of the psalmist in Psalm 19:7-11:

The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.”

God’s Word has the power to impart spiritual life. The word “convert” means “to bring back”. To bring an estranged soul back to God. To partake of the richness and fatness of life with God – Psalm 63:5 My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips. A Book-Mark Certificate will be presented. Amen.        Pastor Lek
