Revelation 12:1-2, 5; And She Brought Forth a Man Child

Revelation 12:1-2 And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: 2 And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered…5 And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.

The arrival of the man-child is described in verse 5. The clearest possible interpretation and the easiest, identifies this child with Christ. Prophetic Scripture promised that Christ would be born in Israel.

Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Psalm 2:6-9 Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou artmy Son; this day have I begotten thee. Ask of me, and I shall give theethe heathen forthine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth forthy possession. Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.

Micah 5:2-3 But thou, Beth-lehem Ephratah, thoughthou be little among the thousands of Judah, yetout of thee shall he come forth unto me that isto be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have beenfrom of old, from everlasting. Therefore will he give them up, until the time thatshe which travaileth hath brought forth: then the remnant of his brethren shall return unto the children of Israel.

And this anointed one to appear in Israel was to be God’s Son who would rule the nations with a rod of iron.

Isaiah 9:6-7 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of hisgovernment and peace there shall beno end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

The woman cannot be the church. And the subsequent experience of the wold through three and one-half years of tribulation seals the fact that this woman is Israel (v6).

Revelation 12:6 And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred andthreescore days.

Amen.
