Revelation 8:8; A Great Mountain Burning with Fire Cast Into the Sea

Revelation 8:8 And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood;

If we shall divide the map into three equal parts, we have an idea of the impact spoken here when a third part of the sea became blood.

Observe that the great mountain can land on the Pacific Ocean, the Atlantic Ocean, the Indian Ocean, the Arctic Ocean and/or the Southern Ocean.

There will be famine and death not only on land when trees and all green grass are destroyed. But also in the sea when a third of the sea creatures will be destroyed. The sea of blood must be a most horrific scene.

There seemed no escape from the deluge of disasters. For Job, the calamity came upon him in succession to prove his integrity before Satan and men. But for those living in the Great Tribulation, it is indeed a time of reckoning from their Maker! Proud men will be brought to their knees, cringing in fear at the wrath of the Almighty God.

The psalmist speaks of God’s wrath upon men who persecute Christ and His people –Psalm 2:1-5 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying, Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.

Psalm 2:9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.

Psalm 2:10-12 Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth. Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish fromthe way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed areall they that put their trust in him.

This is a warning to the rulers upon earth that tremble upon God’s laws and His people as we are reminded of the plight of the ancient Pharaoh who enslaved the children in Israel. Amen.
