Revelation 7:4-8; 144,000 Jewish Evangelist Chosen

Revelation 7:4-8 And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there weresealed an hundred andforty andfour thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel. Of the tribe of Juda weresealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Reuben weresealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Gad weresealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Aser weresealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Nepthalim weresealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Manasses weresealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Simeon weresealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Levi weresealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Issachar weresealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Zabulon weresealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Joseph weresealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Benjamin weresealed twelve thousand.

God saved these men for a special mission to gather the multitude of Tribulation saints who would yield themselves to the gospel. Truly, it is God that chooses His ambassadors. And His ambassadors received His special protection to carry out His mission.

These men had to contend with the rage of the Anti-Christ, who would have total control over the earth after the rapture. God purposed that these Jews would carry the torch of the gospel for Him.

It is interesting to note that these were chosen out of their tribes. The Jews in the diaspora have lost their particular tribal identity. God re-gathered them and showed them their lineage.

MacArthur observed well, “Although Reuben was the firstborn (Gen. 46:8), Judah is list first. Reuben forfeited his birthright as punishment for his sexual misconduct with his father’s concubine (1 Chron. 5:1). The omission of the tribe of Dan in favour the priestly tribe of Levi is also unusual. Dan was evidently omitted due to the tribe’s penchant for idolatry (cf. Deut. 29:18-21) – which was even worse than that of the rest of the nation (cf. Judg. 18; Amos 8:14). While Dan will share in the millennial blessings (Ezek. 48:1-2, 32) the tribe will not be selected for this duty nor protected during the Tribulation. Similarly, the name Ephraim is omitted in favour of his father Joseph because Ephraim defected from the ruling house of Judah (Isa. 7:17). Also Ephraim, like Dan, was consumed with idolatry (Hos. 4:17). His brother Manasseh is included because he was the faithful son of Joseph.[1]

2 Timothy 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

Romans 10:15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

Amen.
