Revelation 3:8; Thou Hast Not Deny My Name

Revelation 3:8 I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.

Philadelphia was a church where members were aware of their weaknesses but the people sought the strength and grace of God to fill their lives.

As the Apostle Paul would put in – 2 Timothy 2:19-22 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, andprepared unto every good work. Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

We observe thou “hast not denied my name”, they were loyal to Jesus Christ, they did not deny Christ’s name, no matter what it would cost them. They were focused on preaching Christ and Him only! Christ was exalted and magnified in their midst.

They were faithful in spite of threats from the Jewish community that deny the Deity of Christ as we shall see in verse 9.

Amen.
