Revelation 2:13; Thou Holdest Fast My Name

Revelation 2:13 I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, evenwhere Satan’s seat is: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth.

The way to assess right from wrong, truth from error is the Word of God. The Bible sets before us two ways – God’s wise way and the world’s foolish way. And it urges us by illustrations, admonitions, and judgments to choose God’s wise way.

We are not compelled, coerced nor pressurized into walking with God but we are given a choice. We have the Word of God to show us the way of blessing and cautioned against the way of cursing, we are given the result and consequence of each way.

We are obliged to choose, we are asked to be discerning. And every life decision a person makes has the potential to show if that person is on God’s wise way or the world’s foolish way. It takes time to form a conviction in the heart, to be convinced the right way to go. It takes time to see the way of blessing and the way of cursing for what they really represent and the consistent study of God’s Word does speed us along with the prospect of making wise decisions in life, the wisdom to see through the deception of false teachers.

Our Lord Himself provided commended the church in Pergamos for her faithfulness. In the midst of great temptation at the very headquarters of Satan’s throne, this church stood fast.

1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God isfaithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it

1 Thessalonians 5:24 Faithful ishe that calleth you, who also will do it

Thank God for His grace to remain faithful. Amen.
