2 Corinthians 6:6; By Love Unfeigned

2 Corinthians 6:6 By pureness, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Ghost, by love unfeigned,

Unfeigned means “sincere, without hypocrisy, genuine”. The Apostle Paul speaks of God’s love manifested itself in his life. He served His Master with sincerity of heart, with a love that is unconditional, sacrificial, that will impact for eternity. This was how Jesus served in His earthly ministry.

Dorthy B. Gurney articulated such an eternal  love and life very well in the hymn “O Perfect Love”:

                                    O Perfect Love

  1. O perfect Love, all human thought transcending,

Humbling we come in prayer before Thy throne,

That theirs may be the love which knows no ending,

Whom Thou forevermore doest join in one.

      2.  O perfect Life, be Thou their full assurance

Of tender charity and steadfast faith,

Of patient hope and quiet, brave endurance,

With childlike trust that fears no pain nor death.

       3.  Grant them the joy which brightens earthly sorrow,

Grant them the peace which calms all earthly strife,

And to life’s day the glorious morrow

That dawns upon eternal love and life.

There is a strength in a life that is honest and upright undergirded God’s perfect love – this is the Spirit’s fruit and he expressed it well the fullness of it in Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Let us meditate upon such a blessed life with the prayer that God will help us make it our present life both toward God and men. Amen.
