2 Corinthians 5:9; Be Accepted of Him

2 Corinthians 5:9 Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.

As believers, we are exhorted to have our life focus upon God’s approval, to live for God’s glory in our lives. Solomon came to this same conclusion at the latter end of his life when he testified in Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evilSolomon understood that there is a future judgment and the standard by which we are judged are according to His commandments. The God-fearer will seek to live a life of obedience before God and men.

Daniel the prophet recorded this in Daniel 12:2-3 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever. Let us be circumspect in our thoughts and actions that it may be pleasing to God, bringing honour to His Name.

More like the Master I would ever be,
More of His meekness, more humility;
More zeal to labor, more courage to be true,
More consecration for work He bids me do.

  • Refrain:
    Take Thou my heart, I would be Thine alone;
    Take Thou my heart, and make it all Thine own;
    Purge me from sin, O Lord, I now implore,
    Wash me and keep me Thine forevermore.

May the Lord grant us fruitful labour for His Name’s sake this day and day by day. Amen.
