2 Corinthians 4:13; We Also Believe and Therefore Speak

2 Corinthians 4:13 We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;

The Apostle Paul shares that he was not deterred to carry on the work because of the many troubles, distresses and perplexities, persecutions that have befallen him. As a weak, often frail human vessel, the work of the gospel seemed an impossibility. Yet God has given him faith to believe in the Word of God to believe His forever written Word, its promises, purpose and power. Referencing to Psalm 116:10 I believed, therefore have I spoken: I was greatly afflicted:

The heart-cry of the Apostle is well articulated in Psalm 116:1-10 I love the LORD, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications. Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live. The sorrows of death compassed me, and the pains of hell gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow. Then called I upon the name of the LORD; O LORD, I beseech thee, deliver my soul. Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful. The LORD preserveth the simple: I was brought low, and he helped me. Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for the LORD hath dealt bountifully with thee. For thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, andmy feet from falling. I will walk before the LORD in the land of the living. I believed, therefore have I spoken: I was greatly afflicted: Because God answers prayer. He was comforted that he is doing this gospel work with the support of Christ.

He revealed that the secret of that strength is in abiding in Christ – Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. The faithful promise of Christ to His disciples – John 15:5 He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit… Indeed, he said in Romans 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. Also, in Romans 6:11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. And in Colossians 2:9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

Indeed, this is of example, we believe God and the promises of His Word, we testify of His goodness and recommend Him to others. Amen.
