Lord’s Day, Vol. 7 No. 4

Five Good Years

Psalm 136:3 O give thanks to the Lord of lords: for his mercy endureth for ever.

Thank God for granting Blessed Hope Bible-Presbyterian Church (BHBPC) five good years in His vineyard. Truly, we have experienced the sustaining grace of God leading us through the days of each passing year. We can look back and acknowledge that the LORD has helped us and He was there with us each step of the way.

The Second Coming of Jesus Christ is the theme from which BHBPC got her name. It was in January 2012 when we first started renting the Booth Tucker Room for weekly Bible study every Wednesday from 11am-12.30pm.

BHBPC’s first prayer meeting was held in the Praise Chapel on 15 August 2013 on a Thursday night at 8pm. The Lord moved twelve to come for the inaugural prayer meeting – Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not. (Jeremiah 33:3). The message was “The Work of Soul Winning(Matthew 9:35-38). The following was BHBPC first prayer list:

  1. Pray that the church will be a chaste church.
  2. Pray that members will love and cherish one another in the Lord.
  3. Pray that members be submitted to Christ.
  4. Pray that it will be a mission-minded church.
  5. Pray that members be willing to serve God sacrificially.
  6. Pray that members will be watchful for Christ’s Second Coming.
  7. Pray that members would pray without ceasing.
  8. Pray that members be willing to be lowly at heart like Jesus.

BHBPC’s inaugural worship service was held on 17 November 2013 in the Worship Centre at 3 pm with the message “Our Blessed Hope” (Titus 2:11-15). It was on 28 January 2014 that the Registry of Societies gave approval for the registration. Since then, God has enabled us to meet weekly for worship, Wednesday night prayer meeting, and annually for Easter Sunrise Service, Family Bible Camp and Family Day.

On 1 February 2014, we began a sermon broadcast ministry with Sermon Audio providing an archive of more than 770 audio and 435 video messages. The following introduction in the sermon broadcast was in consultation with our pastoral advisor Rev Dr Tow Siang Hwa: “Blessed Hope Bible-Presbyterian Church is a fundamental, bible-believing church using the KJV. The doctrine of the Church is in accordance with that system commonly called “the Reformed Faith” as expressed in the Confession of Faith as set forth by the historic Westminster Assembly together with the Larger and Shorter Catechism.”

We are thankful to God for giving us the King James Bible. The underlying Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek words are God’s very preserved Word to the jot and tittle. This is a truth that gives us our confidence in the preaching and teaching of God’s Word.

BHBPC’s website www.blessedhope.sg went on-line on 23 February 2014 providing on-line sermons and devotions.

Printed invitation cards and tracts were ready for distribution from 13 March 2014. As at to date, more than 150,000 tracts and gospel invitation cards have been distributed to the neighbourhood and beyond by members and friends.

300 copies of the Revival Hymns and Choruses (RHC) were reprinted and delivered on 3 September 2014.

BHBPC’s logo was launched on 21 September 2014. It depicts our Lord’s imminent return based on Titus 2:11-14.

500 copies of BHBPC 2015 Year Planner with bible verses were printed and distributed to members and friends. Five yearly editions have been published since then.

On 25 March 2015, BHBPC mobile app goes ‘live’ in iTunes and in the Android store where members and friends can download the ‘app’ for free.

On 16 June 2015, Blessed Hope Daily Devotions was launched on-line based on the Expository Thoughts on Matthew by J.C. Ryle. Since then, we have uploaded devotions on the gospels of Mark, Luke, and John based on the Expository Thoughts by J.C. Ryle, Proverbs – Go for the Life that Wins by Denis Gibson, Bible books on Romans, 1 Corinthians and currently 2 Corinthians by Rev Lek. https://www.blessedhope.sg/category/devotions/

We encouraged members and friends to read through the Bible in 2016 using the 365-Day Andrew Murray Devotional Bible. 90 copies were distributed. Certificates were given to those who have completed the reading.

Thank God for the webcast ministry where BHBPC worship services and prayer meetings are broadcasted “live” through the internet to housebound worshippers since 20 March 2016. It also reaches out to a wider audience outside Singapore.

BHBPC Mandarin Outreach Service “福望堂” began on 4 February 2018 at 10am at the Keith Barrage Room.

Thank God for His faithfulness in sustaining the work that He has begun at BHBPC over the past 5 years. May the Lord grant more good years for His honour and glory as we see our Lord’s Coming drawing nigh. May the Lord help us to persevere in the gospel work to fulfil the objects for which BHBPC is established:

  1. The salvation of souls.
  2. The edification of Christians through the teaching of God’s Word.
  3. The promotion of godly and biblical worship.
  4. The defence of “the faith which was once delivered unto the saints”.
  5. The establishment and extension of Christian missions and institutions for the furtherance of God’s Kingdom on earth.
  6. The promotion of Christian relief for the poor and needy.
  7. The strengthening of mutual fellowship, encouragement and unity among individual Bible-Presbyterian Churches and other Bible-believing churches of similar stand “for the Word of God and for the testimony of Jesus Christ” (Rev. 1:9).

Amen.

Yours lovingly,

Pastor Lek Aik Wee
