2 Corinthians 3:6, Filled with the Spirit

KJV 2 Corinthians 3:6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life. (2 Cor. 3:6 KJV)
A believer’s humble dependence upon His Lord and Saviour brings spiritual fruit in its season.
Jesus said in John 15:4-5 “4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. 5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.” (Jn. 15:4-5 KJV)
He further elaborated in John 15:7-10, “7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. 8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.9 As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. 10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.” (Jn. 15:7-10 KJV)
The believer’s humble dependence is undergirded by his willing submission and obedience to God’s commandant that enables him to live a fulfilling life of answered prayer. This thought the dear Apostle Paul sought to impart to us. He testified personally it was a life of cleaving and leaning upon his Saviour and Lord. There were that constant communion and dependence that characterized the Spirit-filled life.
It is no boastfulness to call himself and his fellow workers “able ministers” but he is revealing the secret of power with God and power with men so that we may learn. Indeed, our sufficiency must be of God. This is the Spirit-filled life that the Apostle lived. He is able to testify “the spirit giveth life”. These are the words of Jesus to the woman at the well in Samaria in “14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.” (Jn. 4:14 KJV) This is that life in the Spirit. Amen.
