(1) Mother’s Work

– A Tribute to Mothers

Nobody knows of the work it makes

To keep the home together;

Nobody knows of the steps it takes,

Nobody know – but Mother.

Nobody listens to childish woes,

Which kisses only heal;

Nobody pained by naughty blows,

Nobody – only Mother.

Nobody knows of sleepless care

Bestowed on baby brother;

Nobody knows of the tender prayer,

Nobody – only Mother.

Nobody knows of the lessons taught

Of loving one another;

Nobody knows of patience sought

Nobody – only Mother.

Nobody knows of anxious fears

Lest darlings may not weather

The storm of life in after years,

Nobody knows – but Mother.

Nobody kneels at the throne above

To thank the Heavenly Father

For the Sweetest gift – a Mother’s love.

Nobody can – but Mother.

(2) Amazing Grace Family Devotional Series

Amazing Grace Mark 1

Thank God for the new addition to the Amazing Grace Family Devotional Series of the Gospel of Mark Vol. 1, extracted and edited from J.C. Ryle’s Expository Thoughts on Mark published by Blessed Hope Bible-Presbyterian Church.

This is an extract from the “Preface” of the book:

Deuteronomy 6:6-7 (KJV) 6  And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: 7  And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

Dear readers, this family devotional series is prepared so that parents can lead their children in the ways of God through family worship. We learn a good lesson from John Newton’s mother’s piety. She instructed her son in the ways of God from a young age. Although she did not live to see the fruit of her labour, her labour was not in vain in the Lord for God honoured it. It was effectual.

John Newton testified of God’s amazing grace in saving him in his later years when he cried out for mercy to his mother’s God in a death threatening storm while at sea. God used him to be an instrument of blessing to countless multitudes, especially through his hymn “Amazing Grace” which described his life story.

May the Lord encourage fathers and mothers to persevere in the good work of bringing up our children in the fear and admonition of God through consistent family worship in their homes.

Hymns in this book are selected from the Revival Hymns and Choruses compiled by Dr SH Tow. A suggested step-by step guide, as to how to conduct family worship is also provided. We begin the first of the series of family devotions with JC Ryle’s expository thoughts on the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

May the Lord bless us with showers of blessings each time we gather for worship at home.”
