2 Corinthians 1:2, Grace Be To You

2 Corinthians 1:2 Grace be to you and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

It is the grace of God that brought our salvation. By grace, we are saved through faith. And the grace of God that came will continue to be speed believers along the pathway on the pilgrimage to heaven until they safely arrive home. We need to be reminded that the grace of God abides with His people to help them through life after they confessed Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. A most fitting greeting among God’s people as they seek the Lord grace to strengthen each other. This grace comes from the Godhead.

There is the illustration by John Bunyan in his classic Pilgrim’s Progress featuring Christian at a fireplace. He saw how there was a man pouring water onto the fireplace and yet the fire does not extinguish itself. Christian was brought by the Interpreter to the back of the fireplace where he saw a Man pouring water. He was told that this is Jesus Christ pouring oil to keep the fire burning despite Satan pouring water frantically to extinguish the spiritual life within the believer. This is the grace that comes from the throne room of God supply the needful strength to energize the believer through the trials of life.

Thank God for His inexhaustible grace that keeps us moment by moment through life. Hallelujah! Amen.
