1 Corinthians 15:41-42, Raised In Incorruption

1 Corinthians 15:41-42 There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory. So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:

Contrast is made with the glories of the bodies of sun and stars, and moon that God has made in the heavens above and the things that he has made on earth beneath, the birds, the animals, and the fishes. This contrast is made to distinguish our present physical body and the glorified body that we will receive from the Lord when He returns to bring us to glory.

Whereas our present bodies are prone to disease and sickness and finally death, the resurrection body is gloriously different. The dead that are buried quickly decay and decompose and return to dust as Solomon accurately observed in Ecclesiastes 12:6-8 Or ever the silver cord be loosed, or the golden bowl be broken, or the pitcher be broken at the fountain, or the wheel broken at the cistern. Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it. Vanity of vanities, saith the preacher; all is vanity.

In the light of eternity, may the Lord help us fear God, and keep His commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil. May we in Christ take hold of the hope of the future glorification and its rewards. Amen.
