1 Corinthians 15:13-14, Is Christ Not Risen

1 Corinthians 15:13-14 But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen: And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.

Why is the Apostle Paul speaking in a circular argument, he seemed to be going round in circles concerning the resurrection of Christ. It seemed he is till we realize that he is speaking a statement of truth, a factual declaration. Then his argument makes sense. If it is founded on the truth, there is there no dispute.

If Christ has not risen and there is no resurrection of the dead then why is he wasting his time speaking such vain babbling? It is not vain babbling when we understood it from his perspective. He saw the heavenly vision of the risen Christ. Jesus spoke to him by a bright light from heaven. He was blinded by the bright light and three days later, he was given his sight again. The difference between those three days is that he has understood the Messiah of the Old Testament is fulfilled without a doubt in Jesus of Nazareth.

There is no need to preach and there is no object for the Christian’s faith if Christ has not risen. But Christ has risen. Therefore, we rejoice in the truth of the resurrection and live by its overcoming power over sin and death. Amen.
