1 Corinthians 15:1, Wherein Ye Stand

1 Corinthians 15:1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;

This is the first record of the gospel preached by in the city of Corinth – Acts 18:4-5 “And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks. And when Silas and Timotheus were come from Macedonia, Paul was pressed in the spirit, and testified to the Jews that Jesus was Christ.

The message of the gospel took root in the heart of Crispus, he and all his household were saved – Acts 18:6-8 “And when they opposed themselves, and blasphemed, he shook his raiment, and said unto them, Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean: from henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles. And he departed thence, and entered into a certain man’s house, named Justus, one that worshipped God, whose house joined hard to the synagogue. And Crispus, the chief ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his house; and many of the Corinthians hearing believed, and were baptized.”

The church was established with these new converts. And in our text here, the Apostle Paul exhorts the believers in the Corinthian church to understand that God will see to it that they will continue to stand in the faith. God’s grace will help them to persevere in their spiritual walk. What an encouragement! That we stand not in our own strength but by the strength of the Lord. Amen.
