1 Corinthians 11:2, Keep the Ordinances

1 Corinthians 11:2 (KJV) 2  Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you.

Hold fast, he tells them, and not forget the Word of God you have learned. The Apostle Paul commended the church in Corinth for keeping the teachings that he has imparted to them. They were careful to follow his instructions, and he is pleased with their adherence to God’s will which he has painstakingly taken time to teach them.

Acts 18:9-11, 18 (KJV) 9  Then spake the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace: 10  For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have much people in this city. 11  And he continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them…18  And Paul after this tarried there yet a good while, and then took his leave of the brethren, and sailed thence into Syria, and with him Priscilla and Aquila…

It is so true that God’s people need to be reminded not to stray from the truth but to be vigilant and on guard for their souls’ sake. When God is not our first affection, we begin to backslide. God forbid. The history of Israel attest to this truth. May He be merciful to keep His people in the paths of righteousness. Amen.
