1 Corinthians 10:11, Examples For Our Admonition

1 Corinthians 10:11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

The examples which the Apostle Paul has given are for our learning that we may avoid the pitfalls of idolatry, immorality and rebellion against God as a result of unbelief, inordinate lusts and discontentment. The lusts of the flesh, the lusts of the eyes and the pride of life are of this transient world.

1 John 2:15-17 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

Let not our affections for our God be betrayed and stifled through wilful departure. Thank God for the historical record for the Old Testament that provides an honest evaluation of man’s walk with God. May we take heed to these examples for our spiritual awakening and vigilance. Amen.
