1 Corinthians 9:10, Plough in Hope

1 Corinthians 9:10 Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope.

There is reward awaiting the faithful worker. He that sow in tears shall reap with joy. Indeed, he that ploughs should plough in hope. There is an eternal reward, but also there is a reward for the faithful servant of God on earth. In the process of threshing of crushing, the straw is crushed, and the grain is collected. Just like the worker who would receive his wages for his day’s labour, the man who ploughs and threshed in God’s vineyard receives reward for his labour.

Jesus says in Matthew 19:29 And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.

Zodhiates said well the lessons here:

(1) Al work must have a goal and be fruitful.

(2) God meant that even the animal who is put to work ought to be compensated by being allowed to eat the product of his labour.

(3) If even the animal is to receive such considerate treatment, how much more the man who works for us?

Amen.
