1 Corinthians 8:2, He Knoweth Nothing Yet as He Ought to Know

1 Corinthians 8:2 And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know.

“He who thinks he knows it all has a lot of learn” [Zodhiates] is a good paraphrase of this verse. There is a tendency for Christians who have been equipping themselves with the knowledge of God’s Word to think that he has understood the principles from God’s Word to live well. Here is a word of advice is given concerning spiritual pride.

Matthew Henry said well that knowledge of God’s word must not lead to vain conceit of knowledge or self-confidence, which would lead us to despise others, or to disregard their interests. Such a one has not known the design of knowledge, which is to edify and promote the happiness of others. In other words, for their spiritual well-being.

Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth! Amen.
