1 Corinthians 7:1-2, To Avoid Fornication

1 Corinthians 7:1-2 Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman. Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.

The Apostle Paul highlights the temptation to fall into the the sin of sexual immorality for believers who are single is very real. And he administers the remedy that one finds a spouse in marriage to avoid fornication. Of course, it is not the case that all single believers will face this problem. He tells us that it can happen.

Man existing alone, without companionship, will not fully appreciate and glorify His Creator as he would be when he has a companion and to extend the thought, when he is in a community. He needed a like-minded companion to share his joy of glorying his Creator. And God giving to Adam, his wife Eve, was more importantly for the purpose of procreation, that man as a human race, a collection of families, could collectively experience God and glorify Him.

Just like the church choir presenting an item of praise. The choir consisted of individual voices but they blend together to give a collective voice that a single voice cannot achieve. And each chorister focusing on his or her individual part will produce a collective harmony to the presentation. Every man’s articulate his appreciation of God and His creation differently because of his unique experience. He sees certain aspect of God’s glory that others perhaps do not see. He appreciates God from his angle because of his own experience with God. We see that blend in the choir of human life and experiences, especially among the redeemed.

To God be the glory! Amen.
