1 Corinthians 6:18-20, Glorify God In Your Body

1 Corinthians 6:18-20 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

The believer is urged to possess his body in holiness. This is his reasonable service. Our Lord paid the price to purchase his salvation, cleansing him for all his sins. The nail pierced hands are testimony of the suffering that the Lord endured. More than that is the weight of human sins that was upon Him when He bore it alone on the cross rescuing the believer from the judgment of hell fire.

What great privilege we have as a child of God! Should we go back to the ways of the old man after we have been freed from the bondage of sin? God forbid! It is only fitting that we would honour our Lord by possessing our bodies in holiness by abstaining and resisting every temptation to sin against God in living in immorality.

May God be merciful to grant His people strength to live holy lives to the glory of His name. An life befitting the redeemed. Amen.
