1 Corinthians 4:6, Puffed Up For One Against Another

1 Corinthians 4:6 And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and to Apollos for your sakes; that ye might learn in us not to think of men above that which is written, that no one of you be puffed up for one against another.

The Apostle Paul having stipulated the qualities of God’s servant and his reward by Christ urges the believers in Corinth not to pit God’s servant one against another. Such actions will gender division in the church. He asks these brethren not to make unlawful judgments between Apollos and himself.

This would distract God’s people in general and drown the voice of God that His servants proclaim. He tells them that be willing to accept God’s servant as they are and not make comparisons that undermineĀ the ministries of God’s servants in effectively serve their Master. Pride and envy will be the ungodly fruits of such comparisons.

May the Lord grant unity to His body. Amen.
