1 Corinthians 2:11, Understanding the Things of God

1 Corinthians 2:11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.

The Holy Spirit guides man to understand the truth of God’s Word. When the child of God prays and seek the Spirit’s help in understanding the Bible, he is helped. The Holy Spirit guides the people of God to the truth of God’s Word, illuminating their minds so that they know the mind of God. This heavenly wisdom, heavenly manna, nourishes the human soul.

The fallen man knows his own depravity. He either honestly confesses his inadequacy to lead his own life and comes to God or sense the emptiness in his heart. This was Solomon’s confession as he lived the fleshly life. He finds it meaningless, transitory and wanting.

The privilege of the spiritual man, therefore, is that he has a spiritual compass to guide his physical life. May we appropriate God’s wisdom in the diligent and consistent study of His Word with prayer. Amen.
