1 Corinthians 1:29-31, To God be the Glory

1 Corinthians 1:29-31 That no flesh should glory in his presence. 30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: 31 That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

All that we have comes from our gracious God who freely bestows upon us all spiritual blessings in Christ Jesus. As such, the believer’s response must only be one of gratitude, giving glory to God. There is no room for any pride or boasting. All that we have received comes by the grace of God.

Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

David praised God by dedicating a psalm in thanksgiving. He realises that it is God that gives him all blessing – 1 Chronicles 16:7-11 Then on that day David delivered first this psalm to thank the LORD into the hand of Asaph and his brethren. 8 Give thanks unto the LORD, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people. 9 Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him, talk ye of all his wondrous works. 10 Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD. 11 Seek the LORD and his strength, seek his face continually.

May the bestowment of spiritual blessings be counted and accounted with grateful acknowledgement and we may seek His face and rejoice in Him continually. Amen.
