1 Corinthians 1:26, Your Calling

1 Corinthians 1:26  For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:

The message of the gospel is God’s infinite wisdom presented in an infinitely logically and simple way so that men can be saved from sin and misery and death. It is a message that has brought comfort, strength, joy and peace to the seeking soul, distraught and at its wit’s end. The power of God shown through in the heart of such bringing healing to the aching soul.

That wisdom of God to save confounds the wisest and most powerful of men. All their knowledge and wealth could not establish peace in their hearts. The call of God did not reach many, observes the Apostle Paul, of the worldly wise and powerful. He is alluding there are no such that could be saved, but that materialism and human pride seriously stand in their way so that they practically worship their money and themselves.

As Jesus observes well in Matthew 19:24 “And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.” There are many encumbrances that bind them like a chain with a choke-hold.

Jesus also says in  Matthew 19:25-26 “When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved? 26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

Be thankful that he has opened our spiritual eyes and call us to salvation through Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! May we enjoy the fruit of salvation which is faith in God and peace and joy in the soul. Amen.
