Romans 15:2, Let Every One of Us Please His Neighbour

Romans 15:2 Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification.

Do good to others is the exhortation of the Apostle Paul. Exercise charity and benevolence in your conversation and interaction with your neighbour. This is pleasing in the sight of God. This is the enactment of God’s love in the believer’s life.

Do not give the leftover food that your family cannot consume to your neighbour. Surely they would not be pleased to receive them just as you do not want to receive them yourself. Rather, cook something fresh, take it out for your neighbour before you would consume them yourself. That is the meaning of pleasing his neighbour. It requires some sacrifice on our part and not a “by the way” convenience.

Doing good in the name of Christ brings spiritual reward and blessing. May God’s people store up treasures in heaven that Christ will give to at His coming as they go about dispensing kindness to others. Amen.
