Romans 14:19-20, Edify One Another

Romans 14:19-20 Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another. 20 For meat destroy not the work of God. All things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eateth with offence.

God is doing a blessed work of sanctifying the lives of His people through the putting on of holiness in the believers’ life. May His children not impede the spiritual progress of God’s body by taking issue with the weak brother on inconsequential issues. Be willing to give deferenceĀ one to another. Let Christian fellowship be sweet when the believers focus upon those things that work to build up one another in the faith.

Three examples are given below:

Put Off: Neglect of Bible Study

2 Timothy 3:14-17 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Put On: Devotions

Psalms 119:9-11 Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word. With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments. Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

Put Off: Neglect of Prayer

1 Thessalonians 5:17 Pray without ceasing.

Put On: Praying

Psalms 55:17 Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.

Put Off: No Soul Winning Desire , Put On: Soul Winning

Proverbs 11:30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.

Let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works! Amen.
