Romans 11:15, Jerusalem – Capital of the Family of Man

Romans 11:15 For if the casting away of them be the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead?

The temporal casting away of Israel accorded to the world the privilege of receiving the gospel. The witness for God belongs to Israel and still belongs to them. The promises of God to Israel has never been nullified because of Israel’s rebellion. Like a loving father, He awaits their return to Him. Israel’s role is to be a witness of the living and true God to the nations of the world. The nations have not known what glory God will manifest in the fullness of time when Israel shall be the leading nation of the world under Christ.

The prophet Isaiah gives us a glimpse of that glory – all nations of the world is ushered into the kingdom of God by Israel’s witness, Isaiah 2:2-4 And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD’S house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. 3 And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. 4 And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

The United Nations is the global body today tasked to bring about peace among the nations of the world since 1945. In the September 1961, National Geographic, is written the front cover – The United Nations: Capital of the Family of Man. In an inset article written by Carolyn Bennett Patterson an interesting opening, “THE BALLOT BOX in the gymnasium of New York City’s Hunter College was as new and untried as the United Nations in the spring of 1946. Security Council delegates, assembled in their makeshift home in the Bronx, saw the box merely as part of the furniture of a democratic assembly. But to everyone’s surprise, the box spoke first. A vote was called; the box was opened for pre balloting inspection. Inside lay a piece of paper bearing the words:

“May I, who have had the privilege of fabricating this ballot box, cast the first vote? May God be with every member of the United Nations Organization and through their noble efforts bring lasting peace to us all – “All over the world. Paul Antonio, Mechanic” The writer further commented, “Fifteen years and many ballots laterI stood near the East River in the sun of another spring. At my back rose the towers of Manhattan, a jagged wall against the sky. Before me lay no man’s land that everyman claims; a meeting ground for the peoples of the world; a voluntary organization of 99 nations working under charter for the peace and betterment of mankind.”

The capital of the Family of Man according to Scriptures is Jerusalem, the ancient capital city of the nation of Israel. The resurrected Christ who ascended to heaven from the Mount of Olives by a cloud will likewise return to the Mount of Olives to establish His millennial rule from Jerusalem. There will be a worldwide spiritual regeneration. What a time when His saints will rule with Christ at that time. What glory to come! Even so, come, Jesus, Amen!
