Romans 10:4, Salvation in Jesus Christ

Romans 10:4 (KJV) 4  For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

The law of God, given to Moses at Mount Sinai as summarized in the Ten Commandments, is the standard for a right relationship with our Creator God. It is the standard to meet to come before a holy God. All man is incapable of keeping the standard of God’s law since the fall of Adam in the Garden. This is due to his sinful, fallen, corrupt nature.

Can a man with a sinful nature be reconciled to a holy God? The answer is, no! What then is the way out? God provided the solution through His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. This is the development of biblical history and thought. In the fullness of time, God sent forth His Son, by a miraculous virgin conception, the sinless Son of God, to live a perfect life, keeping all the law on our behalf in His lifetime to win righteousness on our behalf. He is crucified on the cross to bear our sins, shed His blood to wash away our sins and died as our Substitute for the penalty of sin. Three days later, He rose from the dead, victorious over sin and death.

To everyone who believes in the atoning work of Jesus Christ on their behalf shall be saved. Christ is the end of the law of righteousness in that the giving of the law shows man his inadequacy before God and lead him to see God’s solution for his salvation in Christ. This is the Christ that the Old Testament speaks about and the New Testament records its fulfillment.

God provided only one solution for sinful man to be right with God. This is the message of God’s peace that we offer to the world. May the Lord use you for His glory this day. Amen.
