Romans 8:1, Blessing of Walking with God

Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

When the mind is yielded to God, it brings forth spiritual fruit in the believer’s life. What is the Spirit’s fruit?  In Galatians 5:22-23, the Apostle Paul tells us, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.” When the believer is blessed with the fruit of the Spirit, there is no law to condemn or judge such a one! The fruit of the Spirit is the manifestation of the character of God in our lives. When God endows us with such spiritual blessing, we are a blessing to the people around us.

The fruit of the Spirit is contrasted with the works of the flesh. It is called a fruit because it comes by cultivation. There is a time element involved. The fruit comes in its seasons. As we make time to strengthen our faith in God with the meditation and careful study of God’s Word through prayer, the Holy Spirit blesses our life with its holy character. This spiritual fruit is of a heavenly kind, quality or character. It is love, joy peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance. This is the litmus test for the believer. How are you faring? Do not be discouraged if you find little spiritual progress after trying hard! Persevere and God will indeed bless you with spiritual fruit in His season. Amen.
