Romans 6:14, Sin Shall Not Have Dominion

Romans 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

The Apostle Paul elaborate and emphasise the truth that sin shall not have dominion over the Christian. He has been freed from the bondage of sin through Jesus Christ. Therefore, sin has no power over him. He has a choice by the divine strength of God, the Holy Spirit indwelling him, to have victory over sin each time. He is no longer under the condemnation of the law. This is the meaning of the phrase “ye are not under the law, but under grace“. Indeed, we do not deserve such tremendous spiritual privilege. But God has bestowed it upon us.

May we not spurned the privilege that we have in Christ to delve in the filth of sin. We have the spiritual wherewithal to live a holy life of blessing and strength. The psalmist understood this privilege and he sought God’s grace as he endeavoured to obey God’s Word. He would spend the time to meditate on God’s Word to find spiritual strength to walk with God.

Psalm 119:1-8 ALEPH. Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the LORD. 2 Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart. 3 They also do no iniquity: they walk in his ways. 4 Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently. 5 O that my ways were directed to keep thy statutes! 6 Then shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect unto all thy commandments. 7 I will praise thee with uprightness of heart, when I shall have learned thy righteous judgments. 8 I will keep thy statutes: O forsake me not utterly.

May our heart be whole toward our God. Do take time as we come to the close of the year to take stock of our spiritual life. And be inclined to live better for the Lord to the honour of His Name. Amen.
