Romans 6:10, Living Unto God

Romans 6:10 For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.

Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died a once and for all death whereby sin and death were conquered. Thereafter, He lived forevermore. This is the meaning of the verb “died” in the Greek which is symbolized chronologically as a dot and in the verb “liveth” which describes eternal life.

The Christian life may be symbolized by a dot and a line that stretches to infinity. There was a point in time when he repented of his sins and received Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. This is the dot. A one-time event whereby spiritual life began. This life that began has no end point. It is eternal.

When Christ accomplished the mission that His Father had sent Him, He was ascended to heaven. That delightful relationship between the Father and the Son is described in Proverbs 8:30-31 Then I was by him, as one brought up with him: and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him; 31 Rejoicing in the habitable part of his earth; and my delights were with the sons of men.

Jesus Christ imparted to all men eternal life who trusted what He accomplished for them in His life, death and resurrection. That delightful relationship between the Father and Son, He imparted to these. A life of delight in the presence of God. A life filled with joy and peace. May every Christian cherish this communion. Amen.
