Romans 6:5-6, We Should Not Serve Sin

Romans 6:5-6 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of His resurrection: 6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

Born again Christians are no longer under the bondage of sin because the old nature is crucified with Christ on the cross at Calvary. They have the power to say “no” to sin. The reason, the Apostle Paul expressed, is that we been united together with Christ in both His death and resurrection. He is helping us to understand the nature of Christian conversion. There is a complete change.

This is the testimony of a brother in Christ concerning the change described by the Apostle Paul.

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow: Praise Him, all creatures here below; Praise Him above, ye heavenly host, praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. I was a drug addict since the age of 16. I came from a broken home. I tried many ways to kick my drug habit but was not successful. Thank God, one of my wife’s friends introduced me to a Christian Rehabilitation Centre. Jesus paid it all, behold the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world (John 1:29). There I received Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Saviour. I was transformed immediately on that day. I would like to thank God for my salvation and redemption. I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety-nine just persons, which need no repentance (Luke 15:7). Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today and forever (Hebrews 13:8). Amen.
