Lord’s Day, Vol. 3 No. 29

A Day of Rejoicing

In Matthew 28:18-20, our Lord Jesus Christ gave this Great Commission to His disciples before His ascension:

18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

It is in obedience to Christ’s commandment that we go forth with the good news of salvation in Jesus Christ alone!

By the grace of God, these brethren have decided to publicly confess faith in Jesus Christ in water baptism.

Water baptism does not save but is the outward sign of the faith that God has given to believers in their hearts.

Thank God for this blessed day of rejoicing as we witness the baptism of:

Adult Baptism

  • Francis Chee
  • Lillian Wong

Child Baptism

  • Lee Wen Xuan, Janeen, daughter of Lee Kee Choon and Daphne Tan Tiang Ling.

We welcome them warmly in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, to the family of God’s people and publish here their testimonies:

  1. FRANCIS CHEE

Since 1995, I used to ferry my family to church. Sometimes my wife tried sharing the gospel with me by writing me notes or cards.

My mother also came to know the Lord, so when she passed away in 2006, I was asked to choose a verse for her niche.

I selected the following verse:

Acts 2:21 “And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Some Christian members of my family were amazed by the choice of the verse.

During the funeral, I felt a presence of peace in my family members who are Christians and a certainty of hope that my mother is in heaven.

After which, my family members were baptised one after one another. I saw the changed lives of baptised Christian family members. About that time, I decided to go to church with my family and believe in God.

Since coming to know God, I am more at peace. Thank God for the Gospel. It is the good news that God sent Jesus into the world to save us, sinners, from eternal hell fire.

To take a step of faith, I have decided to be baptised.

         2. MDM. LILLIAN WONG

I was brought up in a Buddhist home. Then I married a Hindu and practised Hinduism.

In 2014, I was sick and needed an operation. By God’s grace, the doctor who operated on me healed me. He was kind, caring and shared the gospel with me.

In April 2014, my husband passed on. I was sad and depressed and had no one to turn to. My doctor then brought me to Blessed Hope BP Church every week. God had allowed this to happen.

The pastor of the church is caring and prayed for me. God opened a way for me and I have come to accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour.

Infant/Child Baptism

In infant/child baptism, the parents of the infant/child promise before God in earnestness to claim God’s covenant of grace upon their family, to lead the child to know the Lord Jesus Christ at the earliest opportunity. The parents acknowledge that although children are conceived and born in sin and therefore subject to condemnation, they are holy in Christ and as members of His church, ought to be baptised.

The parents promise to instruct the child in the principles of our holy religion as revealed in the Scripture of the Old and New Testaments, as summarized in the Confession of Faith and Catechism of this Church.

And the parents promise before God and His people to pray with and for the child, to set an example of piety and godliness before the child and to endeavour by all the means of God’s appointment to bring the child up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

Yours lovingly,

Pr. Lek Aik Wee
