Lord’s Day, Vol. 3 No. 14

Christ Arose

The resurrection of Jesus is the greatest event in human history.

Christians devote the first day of the week as the Lord’s Day for worship. Today, we especially remember that pivotal day when Jesus won heaven for us by His resurrection, victorious over sin and death because Christ arose from the dead!

Death is the greatest impasse for mankind. Man is born to die. None can escape. But for the Christians, we are born-again to live forever more. This is what God wants us to see this morning. When the Christian dies, the Bible says, he is asleep, one day, when Christ returns, he will awake again! On Resurrection Sunday, we rekindle the hope of eternal life in our hearts!

The angel testified of Christ’s resurrection in Matthew 28:5-6, “And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. 6 He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.”

Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were asked to witness the empty tomb. They came and saw the testimony of the empty tomb. We now see with eyes of faith from the testimony of Scripture, the sight of the empty tomb.

Matthew 28:7-8 And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you. 8 And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word.

Having seen and were convinced of the truth of the resurrection, they were to go quickly and tell of the resurrected Christ. How can we be energized for the work of the gospel unless we are convinced and convicted in our hearts the truth of the resurrection! We can never speak of Christ powerfully with a cold heart. Our witnessing should flow from a heart full of love, thankfulness, joy and worship. Blessed Easter!
