Lord’s Day, Vol. 2 No. 45

(1) Call of Pr. Lek Aik Wee

Members of Blessed Hope Bible-Presbyterian Church will gather for a congregational meeting after the worship service today, to call Preacher Lek Aik Wee as the Pastor of Blessed Hope Bible-Presbyterian Church, in accordance with the terms set forth in the Bible-Presbyterian Form of Government. The meeting will be presided by Rev. Dr. Tow Siang Hwa.

The Scripture text for the call is taken from 1 Timothy 3:1-7:

1 This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work. 2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; 3 Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; 4 One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; 5 (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?) 6 Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil. 7 Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.”

The following is the statement of the call:

“Under the terms of the Holy Scripture and the Bible-Presbyterian Form of Government, we, the members of Blessed Hope Bible Presbyterian Church, being on sufficient grounds, well satisfied of the ministerial qualifications of you, Preacher Lek Aik Wee, and having good hopes that your ministrations in the Gospel will be profitable to our spiritual interests, do earnestly call and desire you to undertake the pastoral office in Blessed Hope Bible-Presbyterian Church.

We promise you in the discharge of your duty all proper support (including material support that you may be free from worldly care and avocations), encouragement, and obedience in the Lord.”

Pray for God’s blessing to grant a smooth proceeding.

(2) Church Camp 2015

Our second church camp has been arranged with the Traders Hotel in Johor Bahru from 17 to 20 June 2015. It would be our second visit to the same “camp site”. We had a blessed time of spiritual retreat in June this year for our very first church camp. It is the highlight of our church calendar, a time for spiritual refreshing and nourishment. Do pray, prepare and plan to come.

Yours lovingly in Christ,

Pr. Lek Aik Wee
