Visitations in London
The Lord brought my family to visit the Metropolitan Tabernacle in London. The Pastor Dr Peter Masters with his wife Mrs Jill Masters and family, together with Elder Chrisopher Laws received us at his office on 8 July. Dr Masters is a good friend of our late Pastoral Advisor Rev Dr Tow Siang Hwa. Copies of the Westminster Annotations Volume I and II were presented to him three weeks ago by Lucas Lek who was in London for an exchange programme. After going through the annotations, Dr Masters suggested that we send copies of the annotations to be placed in the church’s Tabernacle Bookshop for worshippers and subscribers who are interested to purchase a copy. The Blessed Hope Bible-Presbyterian Church 10th Anniversary Photo Book was also presented to Dr Masters. Praise God for the wonderful fellowship with like-minded brethren at the Metropolitan Tabernacle.

We visited the Rev Jonathan Northern and his dear wife Liz of Baldock Baptist Church and the Rev Philip Knowles and his son Joshua of South Grove Free Presbyterian Church on 9 July.
Pastor Northern showed us his family farm and highlighted to us the difference between wheat and tares. That reminded us of what the Lord said in Matthew 13:30 (KJV) Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn. Pastor Northern also showed us some coriander seeds and shared Exodus 16:31 (KJV) And the house of Israel called the name thereof Manna: and it was like coriander seed, white; and the taste of it was like wafers made with honey. We brought copies of the KJV Bible without chapters and verses, Westminster Annotations Volume I and II, the Amazing Grace Devotions for the Gospel of Luke by JC Ryle for the church. Pastor Northern presented to us a copy of “It Is Written” printed by The Bible League Trust. The book is written in defence of the inspiration and preservation of Scriptures. Pastor Northern reviewed the book before its publication.
At South Grove Free Presbyterian Church, we presented to Pastor Knowles the KJV Bible without chapters and verses, Westminster Annotations Volume I and II, the Amazing Grace Devotions for the Gospel of Luke by JC Ryle and the Revival Hymns and Choruses. In addition to caring for the spiritual needs of the members and friends of the church, Pastor Knowles also hosts a radio programme “Let the Bible Speak” every weekday at 1 am as an evangelical outreach.
Thank God for the faithful ministries of these pastors who serve the Lord with gladness, love the KJV Bible and uphold the word of God.
Earlier on 7 July, we visited an 8th century church building at Buckinghamshire, about an hour by train and bus from London at the invitation of Bryn Blake in his hometown. A reformed Baptist, he is also a research fellow at the Oxford University and is well acquainted with the church history in England. He gave us a brief commentary which we were able to share at our Wednesday online Prayer Meeting. We were there to view a lectern and communion table previously used by the Spurgeon’s College London founded in 1856 by Charles Spurgeon and permanently closed in July 2025.
Thank God for a blessed, fruitful and safe visit in London. Amen.
