Haggai 2:4 Be Strong And Work
Haggai 2:4 (KJV) Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, saith the LORD; and be strong, O Joshua, son of Josedech, the high priest; and be strong, all ye people of the land, saith the LORD, and work: for I am with you, saith the LORD of hosts:
The exhortation from the LORD for the leader of Israel and the high priest in the rebuilding of the Second Temple was to be strong and work. The exhortation from the LORD was also for all the people of the land to be strong and work.
The returnees from Babylon would prefer to build their own houses than to give priority in the building of the Temple to re-establish worship in Israel. The LORD raised the prophet Haggai to strengthen the hands of the leaders and the people.
The encouragement from the LORD of host was this, be strong and work, “for I am with you”. Amen.
