Lord’s Day, Vol. 14 No. 4

Life with God is full of satisfaction. The goodness of God fills His House. All who come to Him shall be satisfied with the goodness of His House! Welcome to the family of Christ here at Blessed Hope Bible-Presbyterian Church. The LORD enabled the church to be established as a registered church here in Singapore twelve years ago on 28 January 2014. Today, we look back at the mercies of God in gathering His flock to worship Him in this locality, the Worship Centre over the past twelve years.

Earthly worship is a foretaste of heavenly worship to come. Why are we not found in heaven immediately after our creation? We will not experience one attribute of God – His mercy to creatures in misery!

God’s love is the foundation of His mercy. His love is yet the more evident to show forth His mercy when He did not leave us to sin and misery but sends His Son to take frail flesh and to suffer and to redeem us.

Psalm 65:4 (KJV) Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, and causest to approach unto thee, that he may dwell in thy courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, even of thy holy temple.

The Apostle Paul in the New Testament articulated well the blessed man in Ephesians 2:4-5 (KJV) But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) … Ephesians 1:7 (KJV) In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

Had we at first been brought to that communion with Christ which we shall have in heaven after the day of judgment, without having known our sin and misery, and then having a Redeemer that came and freed us from all, and then brought us to heaven, we wouldn’t in eternity be able to truly say, “Oh, how sweet is this heaven!” [Godwin] But having been washed by Christ’s blood and experienced His power, justice, wisdom and holiness in this life wrestling against sin, the flesh and the world by His grace, heaven would certainly be a most desired destination.

So it is for His church, by His great grace, to wrestle with the forces of darkness to rescue perishing souls to fulfil Christ’s Commission till the day when we are conducted all to way to heaven. There is a sweetness here on earth that the psalmist brings forth to us extolling God’s care for us, in our desperate need, especially in enabling this local church to be functioning for His glory. It is indeed cause for our thanksgiving this blessed day! Amen.
