Proverbs 23:17-18 Be Thou In The Fear Of The LORD All The Day Long

Proverbs 23:17-18 (KJV) Let not thine heart envy sinners: but be thou in the fear of the LORD all the day long.
For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off.

Though the believer may seemed to be at the losing end in not going after the benefits that the world offers, nevertheless, in soberness of heart, in the fear of the LORD, who restrained and refrained himself, will surely be vindicated. He will be proven right in walking the narrow way with the LORD.

The admonition is not to envy sinners but to see the sinner’s sin for what it is as warned in the commandments of God. With God’s fear in the heart, the believer who submit himself to the LORD and His Word, will dwell safely.

‘Thine expectation will not be cut off’ speaks of the foresight of God’s Word to give to His people a good end who walk with Him. Amen.
