Proverbs 23:12 Apply Thine Heart To Instruction
Proverbs 23:12 (KJV) Apply thine heart unto instruction, and thine ears to the words of knowledge.
The word “instruction” means “chastisement”. It speaks of reproof, warning, discipline, correction, check and restraint. Let God’s Word rebuke and cause His people to turn back to Him.
As God’s Word shines the bright light upon the sins of God’s people. Let His people be ready to admit their sins and seek His forgiveness – 1 John 1:9 (KJV) If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
The word “knowledge” speaks of “insight”. The ability to know a thing well, the ability to discern between good and evil. Amen.
